And this is one of the less important problems of Hungarian trains... :-)

Hungarian trains are probably the most dirty trains of all Europe.

There is a separate blog about problems of Hungarian trains - Új MÁV Blog - probably language is too difficult there for most of you, sorry, I think only Chung will be able to understand it...

Thanks that you corrected my error :).I only remembered vaguely the name, because it sounded like "essen" (eat) in German :).

I traveled a lot in trains in Europe. Poland, France, Switzerland, Italia, Hungary etc and the most dirty trains - I think - are french :). Then again, in Hungary and Poland, I mostly took night trains, and really, I can't complain.

There is service, toilettes are tidy, there is paper, soap, fresh water and in some there is carpet on the floor. And that aren't the upper class :). And that was MÁV coaches. Ok, maybe it's a bit old, but I don't care. At least there is personal, which doesn't exist - or scarcely in night trains like Amsterdam, Berlin etc.

I took the normal trains to Győr and Pécs. They are normal, some really modern. And have climatisations. I never travelled to the north of Hungary, and maybe you're refering to these trains there. I heard that this trains have a lot of problems :).

In Switzerland, were I live, we had trains until last year which hadn't any climatisation and you could open the windows ( I love that !) and that was just fine. And I wrinkle my nose in disgust when I see someone going to the toilet in a station, until I remember that now, toilets don't flush anymore directly on the rails. :) So, that's it.

But there is really one country where I wouldn't want to travel with train : Albania. I've seen the trains there... well, there are no words.

Ah, and that with the voice : the first time I was just surprised and really nervous to pass my stop without notice (as you can't count on the schedule). :)

That's a challenge if ever I saw one! But you're right that I only understood the jist of it, although I understood a lot more words than I expected and in the first two sentences I understood everything!

By the way, thanks for all the advice everyone.

As a little child I was sure that in airplanes the toilets have direct link to the outside air. And I was very much afraid that while sitting on the toilet, a bird can enter from outside and pinch my bottom. This is why I was always very quick and before sitting on the toilet I checked every time to be sure there is no bird hiding.

I told all this to a friend of mine, and he asked the logic question "and all the pee and shit falls over the people who are on the surface?", but I answered that the distance between the airplanes flying level and the land was 10 kms so everything simply dissolved in the air. He asked then "and what happens during landing and taking off, when the distance is much less than 10 kms?". I had a logic answer "this is why they dont allow using the toilet during taking off and landing!".

That's really funny and must have been quite scary regarding the birds, although I also feel sorry for whatever bird flew through the hole when somebody was doing his business!

Unrelated but also quite funny; I don't know if it's the same in other languages, but when someone says 'I don't drink', it means that they don't drink alcohol. I used to think that when somebody said that, they meant that they didn't drink at all and I always considered maybe doing the same and maybe not eating either to have more time for other things.

In the jury.

The judge wants to know whether the indicted drinks regularly alcohol. So he asks him:
- Do you drink?
The indicted answers:
- Thanks. A glass of red wine, please.

So finally I've managed to find good and cheap accommodation in Pecs and booked it. I'm very pleased because it was getting quite stressful finding a place that my wife would be happy with and at the same time cheap enough for us. It costs 7,700 forints per night for the room.

With our bus ticket from Prague to Budapest also booked I now really feel like I'm going to Hungary and I can't wait! It should be better language wise this time than in February because I speak better obviously now, we're going for longer this time, apparently there's not much English spoken in Pecs and I can speak to my wife in Czech so nobody will know I'm English (in February I was with my brother so obviously we were speaking English together.)

Okay now I need to get this last chapter of my story done.

Hi !

That's a good new that you have found your accomodations ! I wrote to friends to find an appartment, but it wasn't easy either :). Finally I found something, and I was really happy too. I'm watching "Seherezádé" (1. Évad) and I really understand a lot :). I hope to find more time to watch more TV in Hungarian. Do you watch series in Hungarian (or at least dubbed ?)
