This is strange. How is it possible that a British person who went to a British school doesnt know where are the British overseas territories? They are not so many, only 14 (or 13 if we dont count the BAT as its only "de iure", not "de facto"). I understand if an American or a German or a Hungarian doesnt know this, but if a British doesnt know, this is very strange.

When I was at school I wasn't taught anything about our territories, I had to learn everything about countries, capitals etc. at home.

A high percentage of young British people wouldn't even know where the Falkland Islands are or maybe even that they exist.

The answer to your question is either that they're not taught this information (I'm not sure if they are these days) and/or it's not interesting to them. They don't need that information in their lives.

This happens in Bulgaria too, at the Black Sea. There are many "alcohol tourists" who come only because of the cheap alcohol. Some of them want also "girls". You can even find FEMALE alcohol tourists seeking men. There is a special category of Bulgarian guys who "work"

These same male and female alcohol tourists do the same thing every weekend in England. There are even popular TV series following the antics of alcohol tourists abroad in places like Spain and the Greek islands. It's filmed to make that activity look 'cool' too so lots of young people look forward to doing the same thing.

Hajótörést szenved a szovjet hajó. A kannibálok elkapják a legénységet és készülnek mindenkit megenni, de a hajókapitány szót kér:
- Kannibál elvtársak, volt Önöknél kollektivizáció?
- Nem volt.
- Na és személyi kultusz volt?
- Nem volt.
- Na és Lenin születésének ünneplése volt?
- Nem volt.
- Akkor meg, elvtársak, mitől vadultatok meg ennyire?

A Soviet ship suffers a shipwreck. The cannibals catch up the ships personal and make preparations to eat all of them. The ships captain asks:
- Comrades cannibals, did you have collectivization?
(collectivization = nationalization of private property over agricultural lands)
- No, we didn’t.
- And did you have personality cult?
(personality cult = adoration of the Communist Partys leadership)
- No, we didn’t.
- And did you have celebrations of Lenins birthday?
- Then, comrades cannibals, how it happened that you became so wild?

Bemegy a vásárló a hentesüzletbe:
- Nincs hal?

A customer walks into a butchery shop and asks:
- Dont you have fish?
- You are wrong. What we don’t have is meat, as we are a butchery shop. Where there is no fish, is across the street, in the fish shop.

You need to know that in Russian the word "meat" doesnt mean fish and any kind of seafood. This is an influence from Greek thru the Eastern Orthodox culture.

In the Orthodox Church on fasting days when only meat is not allowed, fish can be consumed. Fish is forbidden only in the case when its a strict fast day. And even in the case of strict fast, all seafood is allowed, seafood is defined as "any animal living in water with no backbone", so you can eat for example shrimps, mussels, etc.

So practicing Orthodoxs on strict fast days like going to Japanese sushi restaurants... :-)

In Bulgarian there is a specific term for young Bulgarian guys who offer free "services" for foreign lonely female tourists seeking "adventures". They are called гларус (glarus), it means "gull", I just saw this word in the English Wikipedia.

But that was long enough ago for most young people under the age of say 25 to not have heard about it or register things said about it, plus they don't learn about it in school.
