	東アジアのチームへようこそ！ Fuji-san! The Great Wall of China! Gyeongbokgung Palace Welcome to the home of the East Asian Team for TAC 2015! I would put the same as the Japanese welcome above in Korean, Mandarin, and Cantonese, had I known the correct wording, so I'll leave it to the champs to give me the lines to put up there with Japanese one :) This thread will serve as our common meeting ground to talk about the challenge, share tips and resources, follow each other's threads, encourage both new and veteran members of the forum, support each other regardless of what level any of us may be at, and generally anything East Asian. The main contenders will be Japanese, Korean, Mandarin and Cantonese, but of course there are other participants with lesser known east Asian languages on board, such as Ainu. Correct me if I'm wrong. Here we will also meet to participate in mini-challenges and Skype meetings, hopefully. Why one, all-encompassing team? Well, I suspect it maybe due to the thinning out of individual language teams in the past, as the year progressed, leaving few to no active members on board (I'm guilty of that myself in 2014). However, I do think it would be a wonderful idea to combine area-specific languages. I'm guessing lots of you studying only one east Asian language may already be interested in another, and a fair number of us are already studying 2 or 3 at the same time. Getting a perspective on what another East Asian language would entail, sharing resources, and learning from each other's experiences highlights the spirit of the TAC, and I am sure it is indispensable. How does it work? Simply set up a log, and include in the title the name of the team and the TAC year. You could keep your old log, or start a new one. If you do choose to keep the current log, just be sure to change the name to reflect the 2015 TAC, and edit your first post to reflect what page and post number of your log the 2015 challenge starts. We visit each others' logs to provide tips, support, and encouragement. There is no rule set in stone as to how regularly you should update; it depends on your goals, learning style, and time, but do make sure to update, and check on others! Mini-Challenges and Skype Sessions Here we can agree on posting mini-challenges for the month, like memorizing a song, translating a text, reading something, speaking, whatever comes to mind. It's a wonderful team collaboration that brings us all together, and is a powerful motivational booster. The challenges will be scaled according to the different language levels of the team members, so for example, a beginner may memorize one or two lines of a song, while the upper levels will do more, obviously. These are all friendly competitions, and you may participate in some, all, or none.It's up to you, although it would be great getting together in a friendly challenge! Since this is a team hosting multiple East Asian languages, we can form language specific mini-groups and participate in the challenge, accordingly. The challenges themselves will be the same in the thread, but I will have to rely on my awesome Mandarin, Cantonese, and Korean teammates to provide the assistance needed when monitoring the results. The Stars of the Show Here I will be posting the names of the participants, as well as providing a link to their individual logs when they're up. Posting them when you visit the thread will be super helpful! I also thought I might group us according to languages, in order to identify who's doing what. I have a whole bunch of Japanese ones, but I'm depending on everyone who is currently studying Mandarin, Cantonese, Korean, and Ainu, to post their resources here on the thread so I can get them together in one place. Any paid and freely available reading sites for Korean would be welcome.
