Update - lighter style:
German Ended the semester - level C.1.1; due to lack of people for C.1.2, went straight to C.1.3. It shouldn't matter much, but the people in this class show a much better understanding of the language. I hope it will act as a booster. Italian Bad news: due to lack of people (where have I seen that?) for the class I wanted (B1 level), I'm stuck. Two alternatives of doing it by myself: should I just buy the books and go through them (it has been very easy so far) or buy a method and try a "great leap forward"? I'm still undecided. Arabic Not too bad: I seem to have entered a phase of some enthusiasm. Reason: some new materials. Hope it lasts. We shall see, anyway. 1 person has voted this message useful | |

Just a small post, to show I'm still alive:
German Two months into the semester - it's not as difficult as I thought it would be. Unfortunately, I lost another "tandem partner". They seem to be a scarce item at this point in time. Italian New class, new people. Still not difficult. I haven't been very disciplined, though. Arabic Nothing new, really. Just swimming against the tide. German I'm doing Goethe Institut's Zertifikat B2 at the end of this month. Italian Classes are not very challenging at the moment. It does not really matter, since my hands are full with the preparation for the German test, anyway. Arabic My teacher is going to Tunisia on vacation. A welcome pause. Status update:
German I've passed Goethe Institut's Zertifikat B2. Not with flying colours, but it was ok, nevertheless. I already asked for the inclusion of this certificate in the proper list (in two separate threads), so that I can add it to my list. If someone knows how to unblock this situation, I'd appreciate the help. It's not very important, though. Italian Finished B1 semester with a grade of 18 (out of 20). Trying to read a little, during the holidays. Arabic My teacher brought me a couple of children's books from Tunisia. I'm making up for the lost time. I'm also reviewing the grammar. Status update (short one, as usual):
German I'm currently going through (as in an ordeal) C2 level in the local Goethe-Institut. This is really my priority at this point in time: I want to reach a level where I'm self-sufficient reading books. Strange as it might seem (since I'm supposed to be a full-fledged C2-level student), I still have significant vocabulary difficulties. My grammar seems acceptable, though. Italian Attending B2-level classes twice a week. Being a latin language, verbs are the problem, more than vocabulary. My French learning experience, albeit ancient, helps. Reading is not a problem, though. Arabic My teacher has entered the realm of "darija", so to speak. I really feel the weight of diglossia, but I have a good sense of the evolution of the language (geographically and historically), which helps to identify trends. German Revisiting the grammar (all of it). Want to have this revision nailed by the end of February 2013. Reading Uwe Timm's Johannisnacht as part of Goethe-Institut's C2 level curriculum. Italian Still attending B2-level classes twice a week. Mental note: I've got to keep up with new verb tenses and the idiomatic use of prepositions. Arabic Reviewing إِنَّ and her sisters. If you have a smartphone, you should think about using Anki on it. I started doing that recently and it takes a lot of the Anki-pain away. :) 1 person has voted this message useful |
