@ Sunja: Sorry for not having replied earlier. It went well, thanks for asking. In fact, I was expecting to have the results by now. That's why I was delaying my reply.

Edit: I got 18/20.

Easter holidays, but with a lot to read...

Italian
A great idea: the C1 programme is Italy-based. I mean, instead of the usual topics (travel, literature, politics, school, etc, etc), there's a region on each unit. A nice idea. And a nice change of pace, also.
For instance, the first region was Friuli - Venezia Giulia. We got to talk about Trieste, osterias, local industries, historical background, local writers, etc.

Arabic
The more videos I see, the better I feel about having started my study by learning MSA.

Italian

This week I had my oral presentation for the semester (level C.1.1).

I had chosen Frederick II, Holy Roman Emperor, and the best materials available were in German.

In the end it came out fine, but it was a bit strange: I'd never made anything for a language in progress based on another language in progress.

Must... continue... to... practice... using... Anki.

Sometimes it's just a tad too difficult.

Italian

Next wednesday, the semester ends, and with a written test, no less. Given the fact that the level is somewhat high (C.1.1), the amount of grammar required is also high (e.g. for the composition). Which means I have my work cut out to me.

Good luck with your written test.

I can't give you any helpful suggestions for Anki. I'd rather go to the dentist than review Anki decks...maybe others can share their secrets of Anki enjoyment, if there is such a thing.

The lost tribe of the Anki worshippers...

But seriously, I'd rather go out there and find someone to talk to.

Thanks for the wishes.

... and the test went well.

After some cramming, I knew that I could be in trouble, at least as far as the grammar was concerned.

But I also knew that at this level the written expression is highly valued. And I tend to be somewhat imaginative when it comes to these things.

And the magic was there. Once more. I'd had a conversation on Monday with a nice Italian family. Being from the south (Calabria / Puglia), we discussed a few stereotypes. All in all, very nice, and very... incorrect, shall we say.

Using bits and pieces of the conversation, I managed to write my essay, offering the other side of the coin, so to speak.

Of course, I knew which parts to include and which to omit. I'm not that crazy. ;)

EDIT: I got 16/20.

And so it ends...

Yesterday I attended the last session of my C.2.2 course in the Goethe-Institut. I started in February 2007, having been placed in an A.1.2 class at the time.

During these years of change, it was one of the few permanent fixtures in my life. There were very nice moments, but there were also desert-crossing ones.

I took both the B1 and the B2 exams. I'm still thinking about taking the C1 one (this reads like C-one-one, I know). But even if I do so, I'm not planning on attending any more classes. I have more than enough to chew on, should I desire to do so.
