Tell me how it is used then. |

The term بعضنا بعضا is used when the verb is used in the ضمير مستتر in the masculine singular form,i.e:
سأل بعضنا بعضا: Lit. some of us asked some, i.e We asked eachother
but what you said, you took the Masdar and used it like it was a verb, this is a mistake, the correct version is, for example:
قام بعضنا بطرح الأسئلة علي بعض

What does that have to do with bragging? We all make mistakes in understanding collocations, sometimes. |

That's not the issue, the issue is when someone corrects you, and they are not even sure of what they are saying. Why correct someone then ?
Quote:
Well, for one look at this sentence from your initial post:
و أن يساعد بعضنا بعضا. |

This is what you called a mistake ? I would like to see some evidence that you can not start a sentence with "wa ann", especially when it is a popular phrase used in Arabic media.

المنتديات الموجودة باللغات الأخرى
This wording is very awkward, and translates as "the existing forums in other languages," and not want you intended as per your English translation. While not wrong grammatically, I would imagine an educated native speaker would suggest a better wording. |
|
|
hehe! If you did not know, the word mowjood is used more frequently in Arabic and does not translate to English, so of course it sounds incorrect if you directly translate it.
But if this was a mistake, then what do you call this:
لكي تكون قادراً على تصفح المنتدى ، بإمكانك إختيار أحد المنتديات الموجودة بالأسفل وتصفحها
From MSN.Com
وإعلانات في المنتديات الموجودة على الإنترنت تطلب تبرعات
From Microsoft.com
وهل المنتديات الموجودة الان هى خاصة بالرجل لهذا يطالب النساء بمنتدى لهن لانهن
From SudanTV.
So once again, this is not a mistake. And this is what happens when someone is so eager to find mistakes in other peoples texts. By the way, I'm still waiting for you to contribute with something longer in Arabic. Not by your Arab friends or professor, but by you.

I also have trouble believing an educated native speaker would not agree that سأل is used with the preposition عن and not في in the context of your post.

Hehe both of them are correct. في is often to used before topics. Like when a Imam gives a lesson, it could be said "القى درسا في الأذان" i.e on the topic of.

يعني التعجّب و الاستغراب من عدم علمك بما تكتبه
التصويب لأهله و للمتأكدين
EDIT:

Hehehe

lol
على كل حال أتمنى أن يتحسن هذا الأمر و أن نستطيع أن نجري مناقشات و حوارات عديدة مع جميع طلاب اللغة العربية الموجودين في هذا الموقع
مع أطيب السلام

Is there any chance someone can make a post explaining exactly what's been going on in the past few volleys? I am entertained by the debate between these two and I'm curious how it's turned out.

Besides bruised egos? I couldn't tell you, but I don't think we should be posting in this thread. I believe they want it to stay in Arabic.

LOL. No, everything is copesetic; no hard feelings, or at least on my behalf, anyway. I basically said that I came here to engage in productive discussion and with the hopes of learning and helping others. I then said that when I said "I accept your invitation" I did not mean anything by my initial response, except to help and contribute to the thread. I did not mention, though, but should have, that I am a member of another forum in which, when a learner posts something in Arabic, the native Arabic speakers help by correcting and offering suggestions as to how to better the post. So from my experience there I may have jumped the the gun by offering my suggestions here on Souley's initial post, which may have led to misunderstanding. I went on to say how there was misunderstanding from my intentions as well as my initial username, and how we should forget what has happened and just start over. I, then, asked Souley how Egypt was as I had lived there, myself, for six months. I will leave it up to Souley, whether he wants to offer a translation as to what he wrote. I also asked about the what he wanted to see in this thread, that is, if we have any (unrelated) subjects should we start a new thread or just post in this thread.
I don't mind translating what I write in English, for those non-speakers who may be interested, but as Souley mentioned that he would like posts in this thread to be in Arabic, I will leave it up to him as to whether he would like translations into English or just Arabic, since he is the thread starter after all.
