Czech:

Strč prst skrz krk.

Smrž pln skvrn zvlhl z mlh.

Chrt pln skvrn vtrhl skrz trs chrp v čtvrť Krč.

(Who needs wovels? :)

Řekni řeřicha.

Tři sta třicet tři stříbrných stříkaček stříkalo přes tři sta třicet tři stříbrných střech.

(This two are used to put speakers unable to pronounce the famous 'ř' to shame. Even many native speakers.)

Před poklopem za poklopem kyklop kouli koulí.

Naolejuje-li Julie, či nenaolejuje-li Julie.

Nalili-li lilii vodu, či nenalili-li lilii vodu.

okay...
Iqaqa liziqikaqika kuqaqaqa lide liqhawuke uqhoqhoqho

means: the skunk rolls itself in the couch grass until it breaks its windpipe

but: the q is a palatal click, and the qh is the same click aspirated...

so it's i-click-a-click-a lizi-click-ika-click-ika ku-click-a-click-a-click-a lide li-
click-awuke u-click-o-click-o-click-o

A very well-known German tongue twister:

- Fischers Fritz fischt frische Fische, frische Fische fischt Fischers Fritz.

Two Dutch tonge twisters:

- De kat krabt de krullen van de trap.

- Wie weet waar Willem Wefer woont?

Two in Danish and one in American English.

"Bispens gips gebis"
"Stativ, stakit, kasket"

(Children are asked to repeat these sentence 10 times in a row, as fast as possible. It is easy to do a couple of times but it becomes increasingly difficult with each repetition. To hear someone complete it flawlessly is extremely rare. I have just tried but failed the 10th time to say "gebis" correctly. Try it and have some fun. The first sentence means "The bishop's plaster dentures", the second one "Rack, fence, cap". I have underlined the syllables that are stressed).

Three squirrels in a refrigerator.

Portuguese

(This one is quite difficult for non-native speakers, if you know anything about Portuguese pronunciation you
can see why.)

Debaixo da cama tem uma jarra.
Dentro da jarra tem uma aranha
Tanto a aranha arranha a jarra,
Como a jarra arranha a aranha.

Larga a tia, largatixa!
Largartixa, larga a tia!
Só no dia em que a sua tia
Chamar a largatixa de largartixa.

O caju do Juca
E a jaca do cajá.
O jacá da Juju
E o caju do Cacá

And a culturally appropriate Brazilian "trava-lingua"

"Xuxa, a Sasha fez xixi no chão da sala!"

Also, in French it is quite hard to say "panier-piano" many times quickly.

An English one that I used for practise at one time: She sells sea shells by the sea shore.

Then there's a special category of tongue twisters, where you are supposed to increase the count by one on each repetition and try to get as high as possible in one breath.

Here's one such example, in Swedish:
Ett pepparkorn i en kopparpanna.
Två pepperkorn ...
Tre ...
...
etc.

I think it might work in English too.
The literal translation goes:

One grain of pepper in a copper pot.
Two grains of ...
Three ...
...
etc.

After a dozen or so you'll suddenly discover that you are saying "Fourteen grains of copper in a pepper pot."

Here's a CHALLENGE FOR EVERYONE: Have a go at the above and let us know how far you can get in just one breath!

(As a reference: I'm sure many of you can do much better, but I just managed up to 27 in Swedish. Maybe it helped that I used to practice this one, years ago :o).
