HAPPY NEW YEAR 2012!
I don't make new year's resolutions, but for the language side of it I have 3 goals:
- to continue my Danish course plus additional self-study
- to enjoy my Skype-contacts and to practise my languages on Skype regularly.
- to enjoy my foreign language letter correpondences (I have been doing this since 1996)

For Japanese
Last year I worked on Grammar quite a bit, but I think 2012 is the year of reading more.
1. Take the JLPT N2 again.
2. Do more reading. More translation, and more random reading with the goal of improving spead and understanding. Now, I have kind of a lazy understanding, so I want to read faster and understand more clearly with less guessing.
3. I still make grammar mistakes, and have issues with poor word choice that prevent me from actually communicating with people. So I need to do something about this.
For Finnish,
1. I need more words in my brain. I'm still frustrated by a massive lack of vocabulary.
2. I'm still procrastinating on this, but really, I feel like need at some point to do grammar production drills of some kind. At some point I'm going to have to work out a way to actually speak this language, which I still can't really do.

I'll go with this: Don't get distracted from French.
Probably my biggest failing in language learning is that I always get distracted before I get anywhere in a language. No longer! I will learn French!

Language wise, to finally get to basic/ intermediate level in Dutch.
Other than that? To cut way wayyy back (and eventually quit completely) smoking, to get in shape, and to get into grad school and move forward with my future. :)

My New Year's Resolution is to stop procrastinating.
But it has to wait until 2013, because I just had that idea a few minutes ago, four or five minutes into 2012, just after midnight.
OK, so I didn't get my resolution in on time . . . I can worry about that later.
I don't make New Year's Resolutions, really. I prefer to set goals at any other time and when I am ready. And I've already written about my plans: continue working on and improving the four I've already worked with: Spanish, German, French, and Italian, and to start learning some Polish. Also, I mean to allow myself a small measure of wanderlust indulgence as long as it doesn't distract me too much.
That's more than enough to stay busy!

I don't normally make New Year's Resolutions, although I think it is a fitting time to reflect on the past and to look at what you want to change in your life.
1. Learn how to do the Tango.
2. Go to bed on time at least once this year.
3. Have a clean house for at least one hour.
4. Turn my children into polite people who never, ever fight.
5. Move somewhere exotic. (Somewhere other than Anytown, USA.)
6. Find a rich, exotic, multilingual husband.
7. Find a cure for wanderlust.
8. Turn into a hot babe.
9. Become a millionaire.
10.Become a heptadecaglot.
I think I like Meramarina's idea, though. I am a procrastinator, so I might leave some of them for 2013!

Since I had already broken two of them by 9:30 this morning, I'm not sure I want to say.
For languages, I am participating in TAC and I want to make it past February this time. My actual goals are in my log.

My new year's resolution is to relax and enjoy myself. This applies to language learning as much as anything else.
