In French over the last 38 weeks I've read 51.15 pages per week or ~12,790 words per week or 1,827.06 per day.

In Italian over the last 38 weeks I've read 42.84 pages per week or 2142.10 words per week or 306.02 per day.

(Yeah super challenge!)

I have bursts of reading, but my general aim is to read about 30/pages of a novel per day, which works out as 10000 pages/year.

In addition I try to read at least one or two articles in the newspaper each day.

So I guess somewhere between 7500-12000 words per day.

I am amazed at how much more people are reading in their TL. I am just not a fast reader I guess.

I've read in any language. I just read. The last book I read in Spanish was "Dispara,
yo ya estoy muerto" by Julia Navarro. I read it on my kindle. I saw that the hard copy
says it has 904 pages. I just knew that it was a looong book. It took me a couple of
weeks to finish it. I also read throughout the day when I get the chance in Spanish,
Portuguese, Ladino and Haitian Creole.

Perhaps word-counting is more important if you have a goal in a language, but not for
me. I just read, a lot. The words seem to take care of themselves- however many there
are.

I don't count page totals either. I just count like, how quickly I read on average,
because it gives me a good idea of how well I can read in that language compared to my
native tongue(s). My general Dutch/English speed is about 100 pages an hour, a little
more if I'm really in the zone. In my good languages, I can read about that fast (for
example most novels in French I can read at a speed of 80-90 pages an hour, almost
close to my native - in Swedish and German I also hit similar values, and in Romanian
I'm not far off. I'm also getting better at reading Russian at that speed). That's
simply how I get a gut feeling for whether I need to put more effort into certain
parts of the language or not.

On a normal day, I read for at least 15 minutes in most of my languages, currently Swedish, English, Danish, Norwegian, German... Russian.

Considering my reading speed (I read up to three pages per minute in strong languages - Swedish/(Danish/Norwegian)/English - and at least one page per minute in other languages) that means a lot of words.

Like Tarvos and others I really don't count pages, I just know how fast I read. I add every title to a document and who knows, maybe I'll count how many words I've read by the end of 2015.

I'd like to read more than I do, because I find it to be really effective. I didn't use to read a lot, but I'm trying to fix
that. So far this month I have read four and a half books, probably about 1300 pages, in Latin, English, German,
Portuguese, and German. I also have to do a couple hundred pages of technical reading in English, but I'm not going
to count that.

1 page per minute in a strong language with comfortable content and few distractions. Usually slower.

Embarrassingly few on many days (if you count only books and not twitter etc).

I've been thinking of starting a mini-habit (Expugnator posted a link to this site)... but I actually find that as of now I can't think of a reason to read a little every single day. Also, one important point here is that the article mentions "reading 1 page" as an easy goal, but that's about reading in L1. Especially in a weak language an easy goal can be more like reading 1 paragraph or half a page.

My goal is to reach 42 714 words a day, however I stop at the last sentence before this magic number. I think this shows how interested I am in what I read.
