That's interesting because I find this pair the easiest to distinguish. Both sounds are found in English (soft in 'leak' and hard in 'wool') so recognizing and reproducing these isn't that hard. It's all those other sounds we don't use that I struggle with.

Granted. But until you've developed that ear you need a makeshift solution to pronounce your soft consonants.

It's better to wait unless you really need to pronounce something right now.
