Technically, that is the language of "regular expressions".
A gentleman called Jeffrey Friedl wrote an excellent book about them:
"Mastering Regular Expressions".

Thanks, montmorency!

And btw, the 2nd part by Prof Arguelle that Zwlth mentioned is really informative.

Actually, I oversimplified. In that case, it is the command language of "sed" (from "stream editor", combined with some regular expression language. "sed" is one of a group of popular text editors (others include "emacs" and "vi"), which originated and/or tended to be used originally on UNIX and later LINUX and related platforms, but have tended to be implemented on others as well. I believe the concept of regular expressions originated outside the world of computing and text editors (possibly in linguistics actually, but I may be wrong), but came to take on a fairly specialised meaning within computing. Unsurprisingly, there are quite a number of different "dialects" of the RE language, because change is constant, especially with anything to do with computing.

Professor Arguelles Extensive Reading and Vocabulary Range video really heats up in the last 10 minutes. It is very relavant to the topic in the recent
Article: Students fall short on Vocabulary thread.

23.400 - but without a clear definition of 'word family' that number is not very informative.

Apart from that I met professor Arguelles at the Novi Sad polyglot conference, and his lecture there is on Youtube.

i got 12.400 score on vocabularysize.com test. I've been studying English casually for
about 4-5 years, and consider myself to be at intermediate level. Seeing that result, I
definitely have to learn more advanced vocabulary :)
