INTRODUCTION
Calabrian-Sicilian is an Italian dialect.Italian dialects aren't variants of Italian,but they are languages.Sicilian was the first Italian literary language,thanks to Federico II of Svevia,that founded the Sicilian poetic school.It could be the Italian language,but after,thanks to Dante,Petrarca and Boccaccio,Tuscan vulgar became the most important vulgar.It has been however,an important language.Many Maltese writers have written their operas in Sicilian and It was the language of well-educated people in Malta.In fact,still today you can find Sicilian words in the Maltese language.After,Sicilian was replaced by Italian.Still today It is the most important Italian dialect.
USEFULNESS
You can speak with people that have many old traditions.
CHIC FACTOR
In Italy many people think Italian dialects are languages for ignorant and rough people.So,There are no chic factor,but if one decide to learn Calabrian-Sicilian,its speakers could be happy and considerate you as one of them.
ECONOMIC IMPORTANCE
The mainly resource of Sicily(and also in Calabria)is agriculture.Usually,Sicilians(and Calabrians)speak in Italian when They commerce,but if You speak Sicilian,surely They'll happy.

You can travel in Sicily,Calabria and South Apulia.

OFFICIAL LANGUAGE
Sicilian is official in no places.But It is spoken in Sicily,Calabria and some zones of Puglia.It is spoken also by Sicilian(and Calabrian)emigrantes(above all in USA and Australia).
VARIATIONS
Calabrian-Sicilian has no standard form,but there is an association that is going to standardize Sicilian(based on dialect of Palermo,chief town of Sicily).Sicilian have a lot of dialects,but they are intelligible among them.
GRAMMAR
Very similar to Italian.
VOCABULARY
Sicilian is a Romance language,but It was influenced by Greek.
SPELLING
Except for some letters,the spelling has no differences with the Italian one.
