HOW MANY KANJI ARE IN EACH STORY?
I am counting how many of the 1945 Joyo kanji appear in each story/novel. This might be useful if you are trying to figure out which story/novel has more kanji to study. Note: [100 kanji] means that 100 of the 1945 Joyo kanji appear in this story/novel. I haven't been doing much studying since the holidays but now I'm ready to get back into the swing of things. First priority for me is to hurry up and get the sample sentences from Dic of Basic Japanese Grammar into the flashcard program. Right now, I'm taking a more laidback approach. I'm still trying to get the sentences from DBJG into the SRS, but I keep putting it off. Fortunately it seems like I know most of the material already so it's not a big deal. I've stopped reviewing Heisig for now, as I think I'm at the point where I'm not getting much out of it anymore. My primary focus is currently reading. I recently purchased the first two Harry Potter books in Japanese, and I'm slowly working my way through them. I also have the audio for them, but no parallel text so I can't use them for L-R. Instead I'm reading the Japanese translation alongside the original, and then when I'm done I'll go back and listen to the audio while following along with the Japanese text. So far it's been going quite well--the language used is fairly simple, and there is plenty of furigana beside the unknown kanji. Sorry to see you go. I always found your posts informative and/or entertaining, and you helped me see the process of language learning through entirely new eyes.
