So I transcribed the Bosnian UDHR from the Latin alphabet into the Arabic alphabet, or in Bosnian: Arebica/Arabica. I also updated the Arebica page on Wikipedia so there's more info there about what it is. Unlike most varieties of the Arabic alphabet, which is not really an alphabet but an abjad, Arabica is a proper alphabet, with full letters for all vowels.
I also started transcribing the Quran from the Bosnian translation of Besim Korkut, but I don't really have much time. If anyone wants, I can send you the keyboard layout for Windows and you can continue transcribing it yourself. Isn't it possible to convert automatically, especially in a language with such a regular spelling?

There's a problem with the rendering of the contextual letter forms. Both in Firefox and Chrome most letters are being displayed as isolated characters. E.g. I see instead عَرَبٖٖ ى ڄ ا of عَرَبٖىڄا In case this is not correctly displayed it's the issue of ب ي ت vs.بيت Edited by Doitsujin on 27 November 2015 at 12:01pm 1 person has voted this message useful | ||||||

It's not all that regular. Initials and isolates of /i/ and /e/ are different, and also a few special cases with /je/ and /ije/ are not regular. I'm not a programmer, at best I know how to use Microsoft Word to replace letters, but even then I need to go through every sentence to replace the above cases with appropriate Arabic letters.
It's showing fine in my browser. It could a problem with the font? I didn't specify any, it should use your browser's default Serif font. 1 person has voted this message useful |
