Hello everyone who might read this! :)
I'm starting up this log in order to be able to participate in the exiciting TAC, anno 2015. I'm super excited for the new year to start and to dive into the challenges together with team mates. Albanian I have been in love with Albanian for about 15 years, without even knowing particulary much about it. I just love how it looks when written, the words are so pretty. And the names of people from Albanian or Kosovan origin are just amazingly beautiful. Now I am finally going to study it, not just a tiny bit here and there. I hope to be able to reach A2, atleast passively. To my help I have a textbook, together with its workbook. Discovering Albanian 1 is the name of this textbook. Croatian I have huge reasons to learn Croatian. My husband's family is from Croatia and our son is learning Croatian. And I want to also understand it. Simple as that. I am starting at A1 and are aiming for B1, even though this is probably a bit high, I need to have the goal to really work hard with it during the year. To my help I have the wonderful books BCS, A Textbook and BCS, A Grammar. Danish I wish to learn both Danish and Norwegian, with good active skills. I understand them both, but can hardly even produce the most simply sentence. I am starting out with Danish since I LOVE their movies and TV series. I hope to be able to go from A1 to B1 when active skills are concerned. To my help I will have a book called Dansk for svensktalende, which hopefully will be to great help to me as a native Swede. Hindi I have for long been in love with Bollywood and therefore the desire to learn Hindi has been around for some time. I have almost no knowledge of it but I am determined to learn so that I can understand those wonderful movies and songs. I start at A0 and hope to be able to gain a strong A1 this year. I am going to use Colloquial Hindi, if it turns out not so good I will look for something better once I have some more money (moving to a new house seems to drain the money like there is no tomorrow!) Hungarian Ever since my Hungarian boyfriend I have been intrigued to know more about this friendly- sounding language that sounds like Finnish, and yet, not at all like it. I'm starting out as A0 and wish to gain a strong A1 in it. To my help I'll have Assimil with ease and other textbooks as Teach Yourself and Colloquial. Japanese Ever since I lived in Tokyo I have tortured myself with why I didn't learn this strong and beautiful language. Now is the time to start changing that. I will use Genki 1+2 to start out to refresh that knowledge I do have and to go further from there. I hope to reach a A2 when the year has passed. Spanish Has been a great love of mine ever since I started to study it, about 16 years ago. I have for many years let it get very rusty so I am now trying to get it shiny once again. I will repeat my knowledge with Assimil with Ease and Using Spanish, and then I hope to spend the year reading a lot of good books and watch some soapy Telenovelas. I hope to finally reach a B2, but it will be hard work. Turkish I always love when a friend of mine speaks Turkish with her family, it sounds so amazing. And the lure of the Turkish grammar is also a factor that makes me want to learn more about this language. I will start out with free online-sources (and) FSI, aiming to reach A1. I see in the wikia that you’ve signed-up with the Scandinavian team for TAC’15. As the Scandinavian team hasn’t a captain or a team thread yet, if you want to start discussing TAC’15 you’re welcome over at Team Asgard’s thread. Practically all those in Team Asgard who’ve stuck around all year long have enjoyed learning their Nordic TL so much, that they’ve signed up for more in 2015. I hope your experience with the TAC and Danish will be as joyful and successful! And as a native speaker of Swedish, I’m sure you’ll be an asset for your teammates! Yes, I am indeed learning Danish. As a native Swede I have a decent passive understanding, but my active skills are bad. So I wish to change that, since I have come to like the sound of Danish more and more. So, here goes, a little bit of information about what languages I'm planning to study 2015.
After lurking around here on the forum during 2014 it's finally time to plan for next year and be able to participate in TAC. I'm very much looking forward to it! So, during 2014 I have studied on my own, Spanish and Croatian. These I want of course to continue with. But since I can't help but to study other languages as well, I've decided to give into my passion and love for some of the languages on my list. Being home on sick leave certainly helps with the time issues that is bound to occur during this crazy mission. The languages are the following: Albanian, Croatian, Danish, Hindi, Hungarian, Japanese, Spanish and Turkish. Great loves of mine for different reasons. I hope to soon have time to write more about my goals for next year. Am away on Christmas celebration at the moment, so have little to no time for hanging on the forum for a couple of days. 2 persons have voted this message useful | |
