Politics is hard to discuss in any language. I
don't think I would be fantastic at it either.
If you can have your daily necessities covered
that's a good level already

And now you're ahead of me again in Japanese =) I've devoted last week to study Kanji and left Genki aside a little bit. I shouldn't have done it lol

Anyway, good luck man! And I wish you a better luck with Arabic than I had!

Well done on finishing the first Genki book.

A quick tip on the potential form for Japanese. An alternative expression uses the potential form of する, which is できる, to form the expression Plain Verb + ことができる

It's still good to be able to use and recognise the ~られる and ~える forms, but I find ことができる to be so much easier to use when conversing!

FRIDAY, 16 MAY 2014

Ladies and gentlemen, lads and lasses,

first of all, let me introduce myself: I’m Christian, the user formerly known as Josquin. This is my new profile at HTLAL as my other profile was deactivated in the course of HTLAL’s very own Crimean crisis. Apparently, I was reported so many times by a certain member whose name I won’t utter here (because the dark tongue of Mordor shall never be uttered in Imladris) that my account was automatically disabled and even the moderators can’t reactivate it.

The funny thing is my old profile still shows the status “active”, however, I can’t post anything nor access my PMs. Cristina and Iversen did everything they could to get me back alive, but unfortunately Josquin was beyond any help and finally flat-lined. Only Jesus, aka our Admin, could revive me, but you know: How often are there true wonders in this world? Maybe I should rather pray to Pope John Paul II for my resurrection than hoping for our Admin to intervene.

So, I did what I had to do and created a new account. This means I lost all my posts, all my votes, and all my PMs and had to start from scratch again as a Newbie. I can’t post any links nor write PMs at the moment, so it’s good Cristina is temporarily Captain of Team Катюша, because I wouldn’t be able to lead the team right now. I’m seriously considering becoming a Pro Member only to avoid the inconveniences of being a Newbie again.

You may ask yourselves: Why Lassus? Well, it shows a certain continuity with my old profile. While Josquin Desprez was the most important composer at the beginning of the 16th century, Orlando di Lasso or Roland de Lassus was one of the most important composers at the end of the 16th century. I was shortly thinking about a name like Josquin2 or Josquin. (with a dot), but I decided to let Josquin go in peace. We had a great time, now it’s time to part.

So, here I’m back again in my new reincarnation. I’m looking forward to new language adventures with all of you and I’ll surely as hell never discuss any Russian politics on this forum again.

See you!

WELCOME BACK! Good to see you here. And do you know what my favorite word in your introduction was?
Temporarily :-) I am counting on the Admin coming to your rescue, because otherwise team Katiushsa faces
a few technical challenges. And not super ones either :-)
