Welcome back!

I'm a non-drinker, in Russia. Go figure. And I just brought back 3 bottles of Georgian
wine (none of them for me).

I'm hoping that June will be better. The past few weeks have been utter chaos with the
training course I was doing. I'm still not done my assignments, so that will be completed
tonight, I hope.

Thanks, guys!

I think we should forget about this little incident now and move on. I hope everybody is doing well with their language studies. As it is already June, we could maybe each make a short report on what we're doing. This especially concerns the less active members of this team.

So, are you still studying Russian? Please report in!

I'll start: I'm still working on Colloquial Russian 2 and I finally started working with native materials. I have several Russian short stories at home, either bilingual or annotated. Also, I started working with the transcripts of the Russian TV series Кухня, which leosmith kindly provided. Last but not least, my new flatmate is fluent in Russian, so I get to practise in real life from time to time.

What are you all up to?

I have a new Russian teacher on Italki! I'll be having weekly lessons with her. And since I'm doing the Italki World Cup Challenge, I'm also having lessons with other teachers. Both my new teachers are great!

I'm doing some Assimil lessons and I'm listening to pimsleur on my way to work and
right before I sleep.

I finally understood case system and I don't feel like sentences are from outter earth
anymore.

Cyrillic is almost like roman now.

I know some people would be angry but I found russian pronunciation easier than
english, because it is much more predictable. So is not that difficult...

Well... I really love this language. When I'm done with french, I'll put all efforts on
russian. Such a beautiful language!

Great idea, Lassus!

I am taking Russian lessons every week, and try to speak as much as possible, I have just found a lovely new Russian conversation partner, I watch films and read Agatha Christie in Russian for the Super Challenge,I listened to Pimsleur and Assimil in Russian for the 6 week challenge, I occasionally listen to Russian music, and I will be going to Ukraine for another Russian course in August, so all in all I am pretty satisfied with my efforts and progress:-)

When I was in London I bought another half meter of Russian material, so I should have enough to keep me going for the next couple of years.

Right now I am listening to Pimsleur Ukrainian and am trying to get heads and tails of the differences and similarities between the two languages.

I am really happy that I once upon a time learned a little Polish, because that really helps me in understanding Ukrainian. I have no ambitions there, I only aim for a little passive understanding at the moment, because I am terrified that it will interfere with my Russian. Right now I do not think my Russian is in danger though, it pops into my head every time I try to speak anything but Spanish, French or English. Those three languages still seem safe, but when I try to formulate something in German or Italian (not to mention when I try to say something in Polish or Ukrainian), Russian comes jumping out and assert itself:-)

Solfrid,

Sometimes russian words pop up in my head while I'm speaking portuguese.

Now that's weird!
