I saw Russian Ark years ago -- maybe it's time to try it again. It was a little confusing
the first time. I take it you haven't specifically studied Czech, and this was all due to Russian cognates, yes? Back when I was trying to study Russian the first time, I recall that I ended up on a Bulgarian website somehow (no idea why), and I was pleasantly surprised to see that I could puzzle out a few things here and there (including determining that твёрдый знак from the Russian Cyrillic alphabet has it's own phonetic value in Bulgarian writing--apparently this is conservative from Old Church Slavonic, see: here for other fun facts). 1 person has voted this message useful | |
