Not done so much Korean lately (except a class today), but I have been able to do the
following: -Read a book in each of Swedish, French and German during the train journey to Munich -spoken lots of German! -found out that Romania is looking likely! -confirmed that I will be interviewed for a Breton-speaking radio station based in Paris this saturday -and taken a Korean class today. 2014 is the year where Korean becomes the most relevant new language, along with Romanian probably. And then we will see what happens next. So, I can give you some of my plans for 2014: - Improve Romanian so I can fully integrate in my new country (if it all works out) - Learn Korean to a useful level - Spend the first half of 2014 improving my Hebrew - Spend the second half of 2014 returning to Icelandic and maintain my old languages, in particularly Swedish and French and maybe also Russian. There will be guest appearances by other languages. They may vary depending on travels, life, etc. If I go to Romania then Serbian seems a likely candidate. 4 persons have voted this message useful | |||

I went and did the interview, it was about 2-3 minutes (they have a 45 minute slot on a
Paris radio station, I think). We just talked about why I did Breton, what my goals were and so on. The idea is to show people that Breton is an international language, and not only learned by old people or French people, but that it is an actual language. And that you can speak it with a Dutch accent! The guy I spoke to is also a polyglot, so we spoke in Dutch, English, French, Russian mostly (next to some Breton), as well as some smidgens of Romanian and German thrown in. 1 person has voted this message useful | |||

Not yet. It was recorded beforehand (otherwise I would have to go to their studio in Paris in the Ti Ar Vretoned to do it). He says they have a 45 minute slot or so every month (the guy that interviewed me), but I will surely know when it's online and available to listen to, and once I do know, I'll post a link in this log. 4 persons have voted this message useful | |||

All right. Korean class fell through today, but I am optimistic about Romania happening.
And if that happens then all is f**king cool, yeah? I've not done much hardcore studying over the past days (writing motivational letters is an annoying business) and I've been reading in English again for fun to relax. It's nice to not always have to stress yourself. Tomorrow and Thursday I have Romanian classes booked, wednesday is Korean. I'll have one more French class this year (and lots of classes to teach myself) and I'll keep busy that way until I find out how and what about Romania. The feedback is positive, the references they have. It's all about them doing the background check now, getting back to me and voilà. 1 person has voted this message useful | |||

Ibland kan jag inte tro att tiden går så fort...
Jag har nu klarat med alla böcker som fanns kvar att läsa, med undantag för min koreanska läsebok. Det kanske skulle jag börja med nu, men under sista dagar har jag inte hunnit plugga någonting alls, förutom några lektioner. Kanske får jag gå igenom det som jag redan läst och komma ihåg alla gamla uttryck som står i TTMIK. Förresten har jag laddat ner "Jocului lui Ender", på rumänska förstås. Jag tror att jag behöver mer extensiv övning på alla mina språk, och dessutom får jag läsa mer i alla fall. Och lyssna mer. Kanske också borde jag skriva mer, men det finns ingen tid att klara med alla språk med en gång och att skicka ansök till hela världen på samma tid. Jag har nu några ansök pågående och ett företag som kommer att erbjuda mig ett ställe i Rumänien, men det anses vara lite underbetalt. Men andra företag har inte svarat, kanske skulle jag just få utlandserfarenhet och utveckla rumänska - det anses vara rätt val just nu. Lite mer tålamod, och sen, jobba så hårt att allt gör ont... Du har varit duktig, Jorn. Men inte tillräckligt duktig för att vara den, som du alltid ville vara. Kanske behöver du en stund till. Välj! Avgör rätt. Recently been covering lots of language informally, but no formal studying at all.
Today I'll probably go up to the capital and meet a girl (and speak Russian in the process). When I met my Breton friend on Saturday the one thing we were both really in agreement of was that it's easy to find people to practice Russian with. Most people have to be somehow nudged into being your friend, but Russians are everywhere and talkative. They're also easily found abroad so I don't understand how you can say that you have no one to speak Russian with. I've never had trouble finding people for Russian. Now, Zulu is another story... Been watching SVTPlay lately "Ett köpmanshus i skärgården". And done some Romanian yesterday which was neat and coherent. 1 person has voted this message useful |
