I hope to see late-night infomercials for all of these devices in the near future...
A super-sensitive microphone which, when discreetly pointed at groups of foreigners will allow you to hear what they are saying without appearing to be listening in on their conversation.
A helmet which will give you a mild electric shock every time you make a grammatcal error. (Probably more effective than teachers who are too timid to correct your mistakes.)
A headset which will translate even your most random thoughts into your target language.
A TV remote control which will make news anchors speak more slowly, mumblers speak more clearly, and illiterate peasants speak more intelligibly.
A warning light which will go on 60 seconds before any obscure sports slang is used.
A microchip which will allow taxi drivers who speak your target language to find you more quickly than those who don't.

I got a flash back to Spain when I first took my driving lisence. "If you choke the engine I'll beat you" my driving teacher said, the first day. I just laughed. Less so when I choked the engine, and he hit me with his fist with full force, on my right shoulder.I almost lost control of the vehicle, due to shock and pain! I stopped making that mistake double quick, though. So the electric shock thingy might actually work.
Oh, and I would also like to hear more about your journey to fluency. I love Russian, but I am struggling so hard with it, so it would be nice with some inspiration.
