I have tried three times unsuccessfully over the last couple of weeks to post to the LWT help forum. I post the message but it does not appear. So I am going to take the liberty of posting my problem here.
I have been an LWT user since the beginning, and I love it. Thanks for the huge amount of time that has been put into developing LWT. I have the same problem as Pavel (on the Help Forum) but I can't seem to fix it. I am using Ubuntu 11.10. with sampp, and Firefox 14.0.1. My version of lwt_1.4.8 works perfectly. However, I tried 1.5.4 and now 1.5.8. I saved the media directory and the connect.inc.php file, and I cleared the browser cache, all per instructions. In both cases, everything seems to work ok except the Read page. It displays ok with the colours on different words. The hover menu with the translation works fine. But nothing happens if I click, double click or right click on a word. There is nothing in the right-hand window. No editing of words, and no dictionaries. When I go back to lwt_1.4.8, everything works fine. Any suggestions? Thanks. EDIT: Additional information. I am sorry, there are no posts from you in the moderation queue of the LWT help forum. So it must be a problem on Sourceforge's side. To answer your question: After an update of the lwt files in the /var/www/lwt directory (or a similar directory that your web server uses to store your lwt files and other web content), you must execute these commands on Mac OS X or Linux/Unix: cd /var/www/ sudo chmod -R 777 lwt Otherwise the web server can not access the lwt files due to insufficient rights. Yes. That did the trick. I went back and looked at the Ubuntu Install instructions and I see that this information was given there. But I hadn't looked there because this was not an initial install and lwt_1.4.8 was working fine. I had never needed that chmod for any upgrades up to and including 1.4.8. Under Upgrade instructions, I now I see the the chmod instructions under the Mac/SAMPP instructions but I didn't look there. There seems to be no Ubuntu Upgrade instructions. Maybe that would be something worth adding. By the way, my Ubuntu install is in \var\www\htdocs\lwt, so the chmod instruction would be from \var\www\htdocs\ Thanks again. Much appreciated. As we are talking about a local web server on a hopefully private PC in a private network, the difference between "chmod 777" (world writable) and "chmod 775" (world readable & executable) is not so important. But you are right. sudo chmod -R 775 lwt would be more correct. 1 person has voted this message useful | |||

Hi there,
Does LWT work with Tibetan fonts? I have trouble getting it to look right when I copy/paste or import the fonts. It won't "stack" correctly at all. I've sent a PM to you as well, but maybe the forum messages gets read more often. Thank you! 1 person has voted this message useful | |||
