Hi Esperanto-speakers, I wonder if you could help me out with a question I've had for a little while now, but been unable to find information on.

When you're adding multiple suffixes to a word, how do you know what order to put them in? For example, I just came upon the word "dankema" (grateful) and wondered how one would turn that into "very grateful":

- dank-em-eg-a?
- dank-eg-em-a?
- or are both possible?

Is there some sort of generally established rule for which suffix comes first in a complicated word?

Thanks in advance for any information.

Suffixes are analysed left to right:

arb-ar-et-o = small forest
arb-et-ar-o = forest of small trees

Ah ha, thank you very much, Sprachprofi! By that logic, I think I can answer my own question: it would be dankemega, wouldn't it?

Thanks for the tip!

How did you do with your toki pona intensive during the semester break? How does it compare with esperanto?

Hey psy88, I wasn't doing a toki pona intensive... maybe you're thinking of Lianne? ;)
