(English below)

dum Expolingua, mi do ekparolis esperante kun Chuck pri la maleblo paroli Esperanton.)

Aliaj demandas "Do kiun lingvon oni parolas ĉe Esperanto-renkontiĝoj?".

Mi ĵuras ke venonte mi respondos "la svahilan".

----

This is a funny thing that happens to me quite often. When I say that I speak Esperanto
fluently and that my boyfriend also fluently speaks Esperanto and that we often
participate in international Esperanto meetings, people react strangely.

Some ask "And are you able to communicate with each other in Esperanto?"
(Yes, that's generally the definition of 'fluently speaking'. Last time, during the
forum meet-up during Expolingua, I therefore started talking with Chuck in Esperanto
about how it's impossible to speak Esperanto.)

Others ask "So what language do people speak at Esperanto meetings?"

I swear that in the future I shall answer "Swahili".

Why arrange Esperanto congresses if Esperanto isn't obligatory there?

Mi do pensas ke estas stultega demando

Esperanto isn't obligatory there, but it is strongly encouraged. Therefore I think that
it's a really stupid question "What language is spoken at Esperanto meetings?", that's
why I should respond "Swahili".
