First a little gloating:

Double Super Challenge in English: Done! Yay for me! :-)

Yesterday I finally logged my 10,000th page read and my 180,000th minute watched for the
Super Challenge, so I’ve officially achieved the Double Super Challenge which was the
target I had in mind when I signed up in May.

Many congratulations. That's more English reading than I've managed this year :-)

Congratulations Emme! It is a huge achievement that will pay off during the years and
decades to come. :-)

@Radioclare
Thanks! Adding Margaret Atwood to any reading list is a great idea. Totally recommended!

@dampingwire
Thank you! I have to admit that I don’t usually read so many books in my native language either! ;-)

@Cavesa
Thanks! I don’t think I’ve realized yet what an achievement finishing the Double Super Challenge was. I’m probably still coming to terms with the fact that I’ve actually completed it. Give me a few more months and maybe I’ll begin to feel proud of what I did. Especially if I come to a complete stop in my English reading, which seems quite possible right now.

It is a huge achievement, I am still struggling with my ASCS (advanced super challenge
residuals) and I turned the 200/200 into a long term fight :-D So, I totally admire
you've already finished :-)

I agree. Turning the 200/200 into a multi-year project is the only reasonable thing to do. Back in the day I rejected the idea of the “Advanced” Super Challenge because I thought it too crazy.

But now that I’ve finished the Double Super Challenge (new rules) I’m reconsidering the “original” Super Challenge (100/100x20months/old rules). The fact is that since I posted my 200th book unit I’ve practically stopped reading. That’s frustrating when coming down from a year of voracious reading. So it looks like I may need a new push to keep me going.

Here are my last two efforts for TAC’14 and Team Asgard.

[Corrections are always welcome]

November Challenge: Scandinavian Art Music

Um, haven't you already completed the old-style challenge with your 200/200?

Yes and no.

What I was thinking about was the “original” original Super Challenge – before the rules were changed to accommodate the fact that for most people 100 books aren’t a realistic goal in any language, let alone when reading in a L2.

So I’m kind of considering aiming for 100 books and not “book units”, but I’m a little scared of committing to a challenge way beyond my possibilities. I know that math is on my side and if I could keep up the pace of the first 8 months or so of the challenge, reaching 100 books is not totally out of the question, but in the last few weeks my productivity has dramatically decreased and I don’t know whether the problem is burn-out or simply lack of focus due to the fast-approaching finish line. If the latter, setting a new goal would spurn me on and get me back to reading. If the former, the last thing I need is forcing me to read more when I don’t feel like it.

That’s my conundrum. Any thoughts? Anyone?
