Yes, they're showing up for me when I click on the link. I tried another computer in the house just to double check, and I had the same result. Perhaps some of them are available in the US only? Or perhaps because I'm signed on to my Google account and that makes some sort of difference?

Being signed in doesn't help me. I have no idea about the reason for this; the 'snippet view' help is incredibly unhelpful.

Yes, there can be ups and downs with readers; if you tell me which reader it is, I'd gladly add this comment as a note.

I saw only one resource for Chinese - the advanced newspaper reader, and its glossary - that's why I wasn't more specific.

I also randomly clicked on one of the Cantonese resources provided, and that didn't look very cantonese to me. The one I saw (something about the Chinese New Year) didn't have any pronunciation indication, and was just characters and English text next to each other. The Chinese looked like Standard Modern Chinese to me.. didn't see any Cantonese-specific characters. It's even the same for the workbook. Then again, I'm not studying Cantonese, so I might be wrong.

Interesting, I'd be very curious about what someone who studies Cantonese (or speaks it natively) says.

That's the thing that bothered me a bit about the Chinese readers that I found. ERIC lists some Chinese readers as Cantonese and others as Mandarin. Yet because the characters are used and interpreted almost identically by speakers of all Chinese languages, what's legible to a speaker of Cantonese is legible to a speaker of Mandarin. For the sake of readers, it may be better to gather the Cantonese and Mandarin ones under one heading. The more relevant matter would be to determine if the characters used are the simplified ones or the traditional ones.

Actually, colloqual written Cantonese exists too, and that uses quite a lot of non-standard characters, which renders it mostly unintelligible to Mandarin speakers. And I didn't see any of those in the texts..
