http://www.omniglot.com/
I've been using this site for a while as a reference on languages and their writing systems.
http://www.omniglot.com/writing/atoz.htm
The A to Z index of languages is the most helpful section in my opinion.

The author is also into language learning and keeps a section on the languages he has studied and is currently studying. This section used to be arranged in chronological order, so it was like reading a story. The author has since decided to arrange it in alphabetical order, which is less interesting in my opinion. Still, it's a very motivating page.

The language learning section is not as good as this site, but it's worth reading.

I have seen this web site before - but I never knew it had a "Language learning" section. I agree that this site is more interesting and detailed. But it's nice to look at other people's experiences though.
Thanks for the link.

I like this site - the author made a huge work to present the writing system of many languages in great details. It's better than Wikipedia for those topics.
I'm not sure it was such a great idea to explain all the languages he has 'flirted' with - it's not as interesting as those he actually learned.
Anyway, a great site!

I Think is a good website, definitely worth the visit.
Is one of the few sites I've seen that still has the Cyrillic alphabet for Moldovan. .
There are a lot of languages I have no idea existed!! xD.
Thanks.

I've just finished reading the 'bio' of the author. Great to know he also studied Chinese at Leeds University! :D

I love Omniglot almost as much as I love different writing systems. Often, when I am bored, I will go to Omniglot and learn a new writing system: to adapt for a constructed language of mine, develop an alternative English orthography, or just write my name.
Some day I hope to post some tips on learning writing systems here.
