  • Language forum reaches 67,000 posts and 3700 members. I have made a total overhaul of the website's design.

  • The new banner's first version was made with international newspapers in the background and a variety of symbols on the wheels. Then we transformed the padlock into a 3D animation so that some of the wheels could turn and form a word written in a variety of different alphabets. Can you read the word once all wheels have turned? The device on the left was created from a small combination padlock I saw on Ebay. It is still a padlock but some people see it as a Cryptex (a portable chest with a combination lock invented by Leonardo da Vinci) or reminds them of Lara Croft Tomb Raider. The building on the far right is the Tower of Babel by Pieter Bruegel the Elder, a somber symbol of the huge variety of mankind's languages. The lock symbolizes the capability to unlock the mystery of world languages. I hope you like it!
  • The forum layout now uses the whole screen width and has new colors. Various simplifications and usability improvments have been made as well.
  • New moderators have been appointed to help us keep the forum clean and enjoyable by most.

  • Language forum reaches 58,000 posts and 3100 members. I am glad to report we have been able to maintain the high quality we always strived for in the content!
  • The forum has been visited by a group of trolls who crept out of their lair to poop on our pristine lawn. A senior forum member located their lair, an online forum where these kids consorted to locate clean forums with good content to try and trigger heated arguments among the locals. We purged the forum and created a number of safety features to make this forum much more troll-safe in the future. This attack was a tribute to the good quality of this forum's discussions!
  • Forum members launched a variety of challenges such as the 6 week challenge where one tries to learn as much of a foreign language as is possible in a 6 weeks period, or the total annihilation challenge during the summer vacation. I hope this will help more forum members become fluent in their target languages.
